Our initiatives

Let’s make a difference

What is our goal?

We want to create real environmental impacts within our communities. Through collaboration, innovation and corporate engagement, we will strive to enhance wellbeing and opportunities throughout our society.

When we first heard about micro forests in 2019, we immediately recognised that they had the potential to be very impactful because of their proven environmental credentials, so we pledged to plant these in as many schools as possible.

In memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II having reached the grand age of 96, and continuing her magnificent work towards the Green Canopy, we were inspired to launch our own project to continue Her Majesty’s legacy.

Project 96

Our first initiative

Our first initiative, Project 96, is the planting of 96 micro-forests into schools and educational establishments. Impacting educationally, socially, and of course, environmentally, these will create a lasting legacy and enrich our communities for generations to come.

Our innovation has been inspired by the work of Dr. Akira Miyawaki, the 2006 Blue Planet award-winning Japanese botanist.

Wanting to highlight the array of benefits these micro forests bring, our co-founder wrote a series of books entitled ‘My Wacky Forest’

This series of educational books introduce a range of current topics including global warming, plastics, and flooding. They outline how the forest ecosystem deals with these issues and what we can all do to help. Scientific facts deepen the children’s knowledge of the subjects, alongside fun activities to engage and inspire them.

The children and the community can all be involved, not only on the planting day but also with the management, and future enhancement of these amazingly diverse green spaces. Alongside the books, an illustrative educational pack turns the micro-forest ecosystem into a series of fun adventures.

The forests are funded by sponsors, so cost the schools nothing. The school and children get a free forest and two years of free books. The sponsor’s staff enjoy enhanced corporate social responsibilities and Society benefits from all the impacts micro-forests can deliver.

Enhanced Carbon Sequestration

Enhanced Biodiversity

Improved Ecological connectivity

Improved resilience to climate change

Cleaner and cooler air

Bespoke Outdoor learning space

Improved Well-being

Microforests offer enhanced performance because of the planting philosophy. The native mix is planted to encourage natural competition and natural interaction which in turn causes significantly quicker growth rates and numerous, enhanced environmental benefits.

Microforests can absorb up to 30 times more carbon and are significantly more bio-diverse. With our model, outdoor learning spaces are created to ensure users appreciate all of the benefits that interacting with nature can bring.
